Our guest speaker this month, Keith Pitchforth, is the author of From Village to Suburb: A history of Fulwood between 1800 and 1940. Keith has delved into original source materials to find out how Fulwood has changed over the decades, discovering a wealth of stories from sources including newspapers and local archives. Schools, entertainment, churches and local family histories all feature in Fulwood's story. We learn, too, that Fulwood graveyard, like the cemeteries and graveyards in Walkley, Wardsend and Wisewood (the subject of Hugh Waterhouse's talk for us last month) had its share of controversy over burials. A poster for the talk is attached. Please share with your own contacts.
Entry by donation: £2.00 suggested, to include tea/coffee and biscuits, served from about 7.20 pm, before the talk, which will begin at 7.30 pm.
